A timeline of the Nassau Hub
Briefly

Nassau Hub has seen a multitude of proposals and developments since 1961. This includes the closure of Mitchel Field for safety, the establishment of Nassau Community College, and various efforts to create cultural and recreational spaces. Landmark events include the opening of Nassau Coliseum in 1972 and the Cradle of Aviation Museum in 1980. Despite ambitious plans, such as the proposed mini-downtown in 1996 and the Lighthouse Project in 2004, many initiatives have fallen short, leaving the area's potential largely unfulfilled.
The Lighthouse Project was proposed as a transformative $3.8 billion development at Nassau Hub, aiming to revitalize the area with housing, retail, and a renovated arena.
The history of Nassau Hub includes a series of ambitious proposals, from a new arena for the Islanders to a mini-downtown, none of which have been successfully realized.
