Auburn guard Tahaad Pettiford will return for his sophomore season after withdrawing from the 2025 NBA draft. Despite a strong performance at the draft combine, including 23 points and 8 assists in a scrimmage, Pettiford, ranked No. 35 in ESPN's draft rankings, believes honing his skills at Auburn will better his chances for a higher draft position in 2026. He averaged 11.6 points and 3.0 assists last season, earning All-Freshman honors, and aims to build on this foundation while competing for a championship next year.
"Going back to Auburn is a better situation for me. I see myself being a higher pick next year."
"Being a short guard, it won't be easy to play in the league, but I know I can do it. It's maybe not the right time."
