Phils rip MLB for Miz All-Star pick: 'What a joke'
Briefly

Phillies players expressed strong criticism towards MLB's decision to add rookie Jacob Misiorowski to the All-Star roster, pointing to his lack of experience despite a commendable early performance. They believe that more deserving candidates like Ranger Suarez and Cristopher Sanchez were overlooked. Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos voiced their disdain, with Castellanos suggesting that MLB prioritizes marketable players over genuine All-Star selections. The conversation reflects broader concerns about the integrity of the All-Star selection process and the emphasis on attracting viewer attention.
"What a joke," shortstop Trea Turner told The Athletic. "That’s f---ing terrible. I mean that’s terrible, dude."
"It's turning into the Savannah Bananas," outfielder Nick Castellanos added.
"Nothing against the Misiorowski kid. But those two (Suarez and Sanchez) are deserving of being on the team in the first place. There's no doubt," catcher J.T. Realmuto told The Athletic.
"Major League Baseball is really just focusing on the most marketable players," Castellanos told The Athletic. "So the fact that they can have somebody in the game that is going to basically blow out one inning and throw 103, 104, they're going to get more eyeballs on baseball."
