"This honor means a lot because it reflects the strength, sacrifice, and resilience of the men and women who serve our country,"
"Football has given me a platform, and I believe it comes with a responsibility to serve others the right way."
"As an athlete, I've been fortunate to have access to the best care and recovery resources available, and I believe our service members and veterans deserve that same level of intentional support as they heal from both the visible and invisible wounds of service."
Christian McCaffrey will receive the NFL's Salute to Service Award, sponsored by USAA, with recognition scheduled at the NFL Honors show. The award follows teammate George Kittle's prior recognition, and Kittle served on this season's judging panel. McCaffrey described the honor as reflecting the strength, sacrifice and resilience of service members and framed his platform as a responsibility to serve others. He emphasized that service members and veterans deserve high-quality care for both visible and invisible wounds. On the field, McCaffrey led the 49ers as top rusher and receiver, earned team awards, and is a finalist for multiple AP honors while participating in the Pro Bowl.
