"Williams suffered the injury with about four minutes left in the game as he pressured Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. Williams got close to Dart, who threw incomplete to his right. The San Francisco 49ers confirmed that rookie defensive end Mykel Williams tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, requiring surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation that will sideline him for the 2025 season. The injury occurred with about four minutes left against the New York Giants as Williams pressured quarterback Jaxson Dart; Williams' knee buckled, he grabbed his right knee and pounded his helmet and the turf. Coach Kyle Shanahan offered cautious optimism following the game but acknowledged the severity and told Williams the injury would not affect his future. Williams slowly walked off the field.
