"This week's e-bike news covers topics ranging from new e-bike speed limits to ALSO's e-quadricycle to a prototype brake rotor for eMTBs. New York City recently implemented mayor Eric Adams' plan to limit e-bike and e-scooter speeds to 15 mph while allowing analog bikes to travel faster. Rivian's e-mobility brand ALSO plans to offer a four-wheeled, pedal-powered vehicle for both commercial and consumer use. Amazon struck a deal to deploy thousands of units in locations across the US and Europe."
"Under our administration, New York City is leading the nation in keeping our streets safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike, and I am proud that our work has led to traffic fatalities dropping to some of the lowest levels in New York City history. Our administration has always been one that listens to communities and takes action based on those needs, and, time and time again, we have heard New Yorkers from across the five boroughs share their concerns about e-bikes speeding recklessly"
New York City is enforcing a 15 mph speed limit for e-bikes, e-scooters, and commercial pedal-assist vehicles while allowing analog bicycles higher speeds. Mayor Eric Adams framed the limit as a safety measure to reduce traffic fatalities and respond to community concerns about reckless e-bike behavior. Rivian's e-mobility brand ALSO will produce a four-wheeled, pedal-powered vehicle for commercial and consumer applications, and Amazon committed to deploy thousands of units across U.S. and European locations. Galfer partnered with Spanish motor manufacturer MAHLE to develop a prototype brake rotor with an integrated speed sensor aimed at eMTBs.
