Mets hiring Troy Snitker as hitting coach | amNewYork
"In their latest addition to Carlos Mendoza's staff, the New York Mets are hiring Troy Snitker as their hitting coach. SNY's Andy Martino was the first to report that the long-time Houston Astros instructor would move to Queens in 2026. The 36-year-old had spent the last 10 seasons in Houston and was the Astros' hitting coach since 2019. The son of former Atlanta Braves World Series-winning manager Brian Snitker, he was let go following the 2025 season."
"Snitker will be part of a new-look coaching staff under Mendoza, who kept his job despite the Mets' monumental collapse. Over a three-month stretch, they devolved from the best team in baseball to completely missing the postseason. Most of his coaches, though, were not so lucky. Assistant hitting coaches Eric Chavez and Jeremy Barnes were let go, as was pitching coach Jeremy Hefner. Third-base coach Mike Sarbaugh and bench coach John Gibbons are not returning, either."
Troy Snitker will become the New York Mets' hitting coach in 2026 after ten seasons with the Houston Astros, including serving as their hitting coach since 2019. He is the son of former Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker and was dismissed after the 2025 season. Snitker will join a restructured coaching staff under manager Carlos Mendoza and will work under Jeff Albert, who was promoted to director of hitting. The Mets replaced multiple coaches following a late-season collapse, dismissing assistant hitting coaches Eric Chavez and Jeremy Barnes, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, third-base coach Mike Sarbaugh, and bench coach John Gibbons. Kai Correa was added as bench coach.
