A lifelong connection to cowboys and exploration drives an artistic vision centered on powerful imagery. Photographic techniques include scouting specific locations for narrative impact and deliberately selecting colors that enhance themes. The photographer's work is compared to film production, with intentionality in storytelling and emotion. Influences from historical American west paintings inform creative choices, such as depicting strength, control, and a sense of freedom. An adrenaline-fueled approach to subject matter captures relatable energy and masculinity, emphasizing a vibrant life experience manifested through visual art.
I am always drawn to this same type. I've photographed test pilots and astronauts—the strong, quiet, self-directed types who seem to be in control of their destiny.
All my images are productions; I don't just happen to be there. I build a narrative and visit locations—it's more like making a movie, it's very intentional.
When I look at this photograph, I want to be that guy. He's super alive and in the moment; there's the feeling of an adrenaline rush.
I wanted to separate the colours of the landscape: the colour of the hat, the horse, its saddle blanket, were all selected deliberately.
