"Portland is safer because Bob Cozzie has dedicated his career to public service. I know our staff and community members join me in thanking him for his leadership."
"The Public Safety service area includes more than 2,200 employees and has a budget of roughly $611 million, encompassing 911 operations, Portland Police Bureau, and other emergency services."
Bob Cozzie, deputy city administrator for Portland's Community and Public Safety service area, is departing from his role, with his last day on May 18. He previously led the Bureau of Emergency Communications for seven years. The city is facing a $160 million budget gap for the 2026-27 fiscal year. Portland City Administrator Raymond Lee III will manage the Public Safety service area during the search for Cozzie's replacement. Cozzie's exit follows several other leadership changes within the city over the past year.
