Jennifer Crassler had a tough day at work and craved the wagyu burgers at Kingfish Pub & Cafe in Oakland, a journey she undertook despite heavy traffic. The bar recently introduced these burgers, crafted by Kevin Reyes and Kris Sanford, who began their barbecue journey in 2017. After refining their skills in Austin and working at notable establishments, the duo reconnected to share their barbecue expertise in a pop-up format at Kingfish, which has attracted a loyal following, often selling out on weekends.
"I drove all the way from Ocean Beach, in traffic, because I knew I needed it; I would only do that for this burger."
"Knowing what we know now, what we made back then was not good barbecue," they said while laughing.
