Cupertino housing development could replace business center - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

SummerHill Homes plans to develop a project at 10268 Bandley Drive in Cupertino consisting of 27 townhomes, including five moderately-affordable ones, on a 1.55-acre site. The development will likely replace Bandley Center, which houses various small businesses. SummerHill Homes intends to waive commercial space requirements, meaning existing businesses cannot return post-construction. Local residents support this transition, pointing out the need for townhomes to attract younger families. The project aims to utilize new legislation allowing bypassing environmental reviews under CEQA, marking a notable application in the area.
The development could replace the existing Bandley Center, a commercial building home to a local tax business, a Chinese language school, a clay studio, and a couple of small law and architecture offices.
Longtime Cupertino resident Jean Bedord is glad to see the proposal because Bandley Center is outdated and underused, with a few empty offices.
