Derek Silver involved his ex-wife, Heather, to help stage a rooftop surprise proposal for his girlfriend, Kaylin Drumeller. Heather, a photographer who uses the name Heather Jae, summoned Drumeller under the pretense of a fancy photo shoot and photographed the moment as Silver proposed. Heather and Silver share two children, ages 7 and 9, and maintain a close co-parenting relationship described as sister-like. Silver and Drumeller welcomed a son six months earlier, and Heather and Drumeller have become close friends. The proposal video posted to TikTok garnered almost half a million views and praise for the blended-family dynamic.
