Work-from-home more prevalent in Bay Area than rest of US and world, surveys show
Briefly

Recent surveys indicate that Bay Area white-collar workers are now spending approximately three days a week in the office, with a data report from the Bay Area Council showing nearly two-thirds attending on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Originally, in October 2021, workers averaged 2.3 days in the office. While 40% of companies had mandated more in-office days recently, only 22% plan to continue this trend. Larger companies are more likely to require these increases, yet there is noted resistance to return-to-work mandates from local government employees and unions.
Overwhelmingly we found that those that require employees to come in feel like their policy is very effective. When they request, it's less effective.
The data comes as local and state government return-to-work mandates spark pushback, with workers resisting increased in-person office requirements.
