Putin said the Ukraine war is coming to an end. He stated that Western support for Ukraine escalated confrontation with Russia and that the situation is heading toward an end while remaining serious. He named former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder as his preferred EU negotiator for forthcoming peace talks. He said Moscow had not received proposals from Ukraine regarding a large prisoner swap announced by US President Donald Trump, and that Russia is waiting for Ukraine to respond. He said he would meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy only after a lasting peace deal is agreed.
