"He is with the weirdos!" GOP lawmaker attacks Trump-backed opponent with outrageous anti-LGBTQ+ ad - LGBTQ Nation
"A PAC backing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has released a toxically homophobic and transphobic ad accusing his primary challenger - the Donald Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein - of being "bought and paid for by the LGBTQ Mafia," supporting "freak values" and standing "with the weirdos.""
"Massie, who is extremely conservative and massively anti-LGBTQ+, is facing a Trump-backed challenger in the primary this year because he has spoken out against the Trump administration's attempts to conceal the Epstein files as well as the administration's support of the Israeli government. Even though he supports the same policies as Trump the vast majority of the time, those two issues have been enough for a pro-Trump PAC to create an AI-generated ad showing Massie in a "throuple" with Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)."
"The ad throws out anti-LGBTQ+ insults, like saying that Gallrein is "bought and paid for by the LGBTQ Mafia" and repeatedly calls trans people "weirdos." It portrays any support of LGBTQ+ issues, including marriage equality, as extreme. It includes pictures of trans people and drag queens - including Minnesota state Rep. Leigh Finke (D) and Texas nonbinary activist Brigitte Bandit - as if they're supposed to scare viewers."
"But Gallrein is not running a pro-LGBTQ+ campaign. The ad draws the link between Gallrein and LGBTQ+ rights through the financial backing Gallrein has received from conservative billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer, who has a gay son. Singer donated to support the fight for marriage equality"
A PAC backing Rep. Thomas Massie released an AI-generated, anti-LGBTQ ad accusing his primary challenger Ed Gallrein of being “bought and paid for by the LGBTQ Mafia,” supporting “freak values,” and standing “with the weirdos.” Massie faces a Trump-backed challenger after opposing efforts to conceal Epstein files and after criticizing the Trump administration’s support for Israel, despite often aligning with Trump on policy. A pro-Massie PAC then countered with another ad paid for by Hold the Line PAC, spending $235,000 on TV. The ad uses anti-LGBTQ insults, portrays support for marriage equality as extreme, and includes images of trans people and drag queens to frighten viewers. Gallrein is not running a pro-LGBTQ campaign, and the LGBTQ connection is linked to financial backing from conservative billionaire Paul Singer, who supports marriage equality and has a gay son.
