Reem Assil, a renowned chef, is returning Reem's bakery to Oakland in a new flagship space at Jack London Square. This location is significant, previously housing Miette Patisserie, where her team once baked. The new 3,000 square foot space will enhance production for the cafe, catering, and wholesale. Assil envisions a communal atmosphere, complete with a mural and seating nook. Reem's expansion will also aim for additional locations throughout the Bay Area, emphasizing community connection and gratitude towards supporters.
"It feels very full-circle for Reem's. The idea of really taking over a space that essentially has amazing bones and has all the equipment felt like a no-brainer for us to be able to take this risk without risking it all, so to speak."
"This was my dream from the very beginning: pita lines and bread just coming out of the oven large-scale, and people being able to see that magic."
"I'm really excited to see my community face to face. We want to give that love back to the people who helped us get to where we are today."
