Kraft Heinz to remove artificial dyes from all products, like Jell-O and Kool-Aid
Briefly

Kraft Heinz announced its commitment to eliminating artificial food dyes from its U.S. products starting in 2027, with immediate cessation of new products using these dyes. Currently, almost 90% of its offerings are free from synthetic colors. Major brands affected include Crystal Light and Kool-Aid. The move aligns with federal directives advocating for the reduction of petroleum-based dyes after studies indicating potential adverse effects on children's behavior. Kraft Heinz has previously replaced dyes in products like Kraft Mac & Cheese, opting for natural color alternatives like turmeric and paprika.
We are going to get rid of the dyes and then one by one, we're going to get rid of every ingredient and additive in food that we can legally address.
The vast majority of our products use natural or no colors, and we've been on a journey to reduce our use of FD&C colors across the remainder of our portfolio.
About a decade ago, the company removed the artificial dyes used to give its Kraft Mac & Cheese its iconic yellow-orange hue; that color now comes from spices like paprika and turmeric.
Our iconic Heinz Tomato Ketchup has never had artificial dyes.
