Sydney Arkin grew up consuming sugary cereals, which inspired her innovative ice cream flavors at her shop, Bad Walter's Bootleg Ice Cream. During the pandemic, she began making ice cream as a hobby, starting with a borrowed Cuisinart ice cream maker. As demand grew, she invested in more advanced machines. Bad Walter's opened a brick-and-mortar shop in September 2024, in the former Smitten location, and has since created approximately 115 unique flavors, with a focus on lactose-free options and new flavors introduced weekly.
Sydney Arkin credits her childhood of eating sugary cereals with little oversight for inspiring her creative ice cream flavors at her shop, Bad Walter's Bootleg Ice Cream.
After being laid off during the pandemic, Arkin turned to ice cream-making as a hobby, quickly transforming it into a thriving business with a growing lineup of unique flavors.
Bad Walter's Bootleg Ice Cream has expanded to a full-time establishment with 13 employees in a location that holds special significance for Arkin and her husband.
The shop emphasizes creativity by introducing one to two new lactose-free flavors each week, showcasing a commitment to innovation in their offerings.
