"The back-to-back concerts take place in Pier 80's 200,000-square-foot warehouse, which is also used as one of Portola's stages. (It's the same stage where Fred Again fans hopped over barriers to crash 2022's festival.) The building has lived many lives; before locals knew it as an on-and-off music venue, it was used in 2013 as the home base for Larry Ellison's yacht-racing team, and in 2016 as a temporary homeless shelter."
"Although thousands now flock to Pier 80 for music, the pier remains a working maritime terminal. The concerts are presented by Goldenvoice, the booker behind Coachella and Portola, and NPU Live. Skrillex, dubstep's first breakout star in the U.S., headlined Portola Festival in 2023. His performance was apparently audible from across the bay and drew enough noise complaints that the city of Alameda briefly attempted to shut down the festival."
Promoters announced two back-to-back electronic music concerts at Pier 80 on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, featuring Skrillex and Four Tet on Dec. 30 and Swedish House Mafia on New Year's Eve. The concerts will be held inside Pier 80's 200,000-square-foot warehouse, a stage used by Portola Festival that previously served as Larry Ellison's yacht-racing base in 2013 and a temporary homeless shelter in 2016. The pier continues to operate as a working maritime terminal. Goldenvoice and NPU Live are presenting the events. Skrillex headlined Portola in 2023 and later co-hosted a 25,000-person Civic Center rave; Four Tet closed Portola in 2022 and 2024 and played a five-hour Cow Palace set in 2023. Swedish House Mafia is the trio Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello, known for radio hits such as "Don't You Worry Child."
