"The highs and lows from the season - both on the field and off - are captured in a new documentary that follows the community shaken by immeasurable tragedy, and how baseball becomes refug"
Altadena’s Little League began its first season after the Eaton fire with major obstacles, including the loss of a field, limited equipment, and widespread displacement of families across the Los Angeles Basin. Parents, coaches, and organizers of Central Altadena Little League worked to rebuild the season, and hundreds of children still signed up. Donations funded free gloves, bats, and balls, while neighboring leagues provided field space. On March 1, nearly 20 Altadena-based teams opened the season. The 10- and 11-year-old Braves team then won playoff games that seemed unlikely. A documentary titled “Going for Home” captures the season’s highs and lows and how baseball offered refuge and hope. A free community screening is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Loma Alta Park.
