"We are heartbroken by the reported sexual assault. Our deepest sympathies go out to the player, their family, friends, and the entire team,"
"additional spot checks"
"high priority case"
San Francisco police responded to a reported sexual battery at the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park at approximately 5:30 p.m.; the victim was a child attending a San Francisco Youth Soccer practice. SF Youth Soccer was alerted by a volunteer coach and sent team administrators safety reminders recommending players use restrooms in groups. Additional officers are patrolling the Richmond District and new cameras have been placed in the park. A park ranger is stationed near restrooms on weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m. when youth teams are present. Rangers are monitoring the area between the Beach Chalet and Polo Fields and conducting additional spot checks. No arrest has been made and the SFPD says the incident is a high priority and urges anyone with information to call or text.
