The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted to restrict RV parking on city streets. A limited number of RVs will receive permits for parking while undergoing a housing process. The city identified 437 RVs inhabited by individuals needing housing support. Outreach programs and case managers will assist these individuals over the next six months. Many residents fear they may lack sufficient time to secure housing and may consider relocating to other cities. Nearby areas like San Mateo County express concern about San Francisco's housing crisis affecting them.
We are sending the message is not the place to come, said Rafael Mandelman, President of the SF Board of Supervisors.
During the 6 months there is going to be a lot of outreach to those folks in RV's there are going to be case managers trying to find them alternative housing.
Truth is San Francisco has a housing and shelter shortage. So many know they may not be able to get into housing within 6 months.
What I'm afraid of is that San Francisco's problems are going to be San Mateo County problems.
