Hall of Famer Joe Thornton Joins Sharks Front Office

Joe Thornton has been appointed as a player development coach and hockey operations advisor for the San Jose Sharks. Having spent 15 of his 24 NHL seasons with the Sharks, he was a captain from 2010 to 2013. Thornton was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2025, with his No. 19 jersey retired in late 2024. He recorded 1,055 points while with the Sharks and concluded his career with 1,539 points across four teams. The Sharks made several front office changes, seeking a resurgence in their performance after two seasons at the bottom of the NHL.
