Oxford University Press to stop publishing China-sponsored science journal
Briefly

Oxford University Press has decided to discontinue the publication of the Forensic Sciences Research journal sponsored by China's Ministry of Justice due to serious ethical concerns regarding DNA collection practices. The journal, which focuses on forensic medicine, has faced criticism for studies examining genetic data from Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities, with questions raised about informed consent. One particular study from 2020 involved a blood sample analysis of Uyghurs, leading to an expression of concern from OUP about the study's ethical implications. OUP had previously retracted two other papers from this journal over similar ethical violations.
