"I came into this knowing I probably wasn't the favourite, but anytime I step into a final, I believe I have a chance to win."
"Lutkenhaus's gold was USA's sixth of the championships, putting them top of the medal table ahead of Great Britain, who won five."
Cooper Lutkenhaus, a 17-year-old from Texas, won gold in the 800m at the world indoor athletics championship, making history as the youngest champion. He finished with a time of 1min, 44.24sec, beating Belgium's Eliott Crestan by 0.14 seconds. Lutkenhaus surpassed the previous record held by Mohammed Aman, who was 18 years and 61 days old when he won gold in 2012. This victory contributed to the USA's total of six golds, leading the medal table ahead of Great Britain.
