Canada play Wales in a friendly at the Swansea.com Stadium as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which Canada will co-host with the USA and Mexico. Wales briefly topped their World Cup qualifying group but slipped to third after results for North Macedonia and Belgium. Canada beat Romania 3-0 in their most recent friendly, following a penalty defeat to Guatemala in the Concacaf Gold Cup in June. Canada also qualified for the 2022 World Cup, ending a 36-year absence. Friendlies are being used to simulate pressure and test tactical and personnel choices ahead of 2026.
