Rangers 'remain unsatisfied' after SFA referee talks
"We recognise that refereeing decisions can impact both sides in a game, but too many important matches continue to be influenced by calls that are inconsistent and difficult to justify. These decisions have real consequences, determining results, impacting fans, and affecting the livelihoods of players, coaches and staff whose work is judged by outcomes on the pitch."
"We remain unsatisfied with the explanation of the referee's decision, the application of the Laws of the Game, and the VAR review itself, which we do not believe was sufficiently robust or thorough."
"Jack's diving on the floor, he's already got the ball and he gets kicked in the head... You can't kick a goalkeeper in the head."
Rangers raised concerns about inconsistent refereeing and VAR reviews after their Premier Sports Cup semi-final loss to Celtic. The grievance focused on a late first-half challenge by Celtic defender Auston Trusty on goalkeeper Jack Butland; referee Nick Walsh issued a booking and VAR did not intervene. Rangers said they remained unsatisfied with the referee's explanation and the application of the Laws of the Game. Captain James Tavernier criticised the decision, saying the goalkeeper was kicked in the head. Rangers warned that inconsistent decisions affect results, fans and livelihoods and said prior complaints to the Scottish FA brought insufficient change.
