"Bouna Sarr's signing was one of the most lampooned transactions in the club's history. Signed during a rushed, COVID-19 induced late summer transfer window on a whim, Sarr never had a role at the club, but was able to get paid €7,600,000 (per Capology) in four seasons with the Bavarians. That might seem like a bargain, until you factor in that he played just 1,293 minutes across 33 games in those four seasons."
"What marked Sarr's signing at Bayern Munich was not his lack of production or even his lack of minutes, it is that he was just content to hang out, do some training, work out, and watch the games. It is an awesome gig if you can get it, but rather than aiming to get on the pitch elsewhere, Sarr embraced his role as passenger at Bayern Munich. Anyway, Sarr has re-emerged with FC Metz in a string of X posts:"
Bouna Sarr joined Bayern Munich during a rushed, COVID-19 late-summer transfer window and never secured a playing role. He earned €7,600,000 over four seasons while appearing in 33 games for a total of 1,293 minutes. Sarr generally trained, worked out, and watched matches rather than seeking playing time elsewhere, effectively embracing a passenger role at the club. Sarr has re-emerged by rejoining FC Metz and posted, "I can't wait to reconnect with the supporters at Saint-Symphorien." Sarr debuted professionally with FC Metz in 2014/15 and had been without a club since leaving Bayern in 2024.
