Sweden 0-1 Spain (Oct 28, 2025) Game Analysis - ESPN
"Alexia Putellas struck the only goal of the game as holders Spain beat Sweden 1-0 in Gothenburg on Tuesday to book their place in the final of the UEFA Women's Nations League courtesy of a 5-0 aggregate win. Putellas, who scored twice in Spain's 4-0 semifinal first leg win last week, finished brilliantly just inside the box in the 75th minute after good work from Barcelona teammate Clàudia Pina. World champions Spain will now meet Germany in the final later this year after they emerged victorious from the other semifinal against France later on Tuesday."
"Both displays were very different. While Spain took Sweden apart in Malaga last Friday, they had to show a more patient side to their game at the Gamla Ullevi. In a match of few chances, the best opening of the first half felt to Spain defender Irene Paredes, who headed a Mapi León cross wide when she was left unmarked at the far post."
Alexia Putellas scored in the 75th minute after a Clàudia Pina assist to give Spain a 1-0 win in Gothenburg and a 5-0 aggregate semi-final victory over Sweden. Spain had won the first leg 4-0 in Malaga and displayed a more patient approach in the return match. Irene Paredes missed a notable first-half chance, while substitute Cristina Martín-Prieto also went close. Stina Blackstenius had a penalty appeal turned down and Cata Coll made late saves to deny Sweden. Sonia Bermúdez enjoyed a positive start as Spain's new coach.
