Chris Wilder has been appointed Sheffield United manager for a third spell, signing a contract until summer 2027. Wilder was dismissed at the end of last season after United lost the Championship play-off final to Sunderland. Ruben Selles replaced him but was sacked after five successive Championship defeats, including a 5-0 loss to Ipswich. United sit bottom of the table with zero points and one goal this season. Wilder first took charge in May 2016, led the club to the Premier League, departed in March 2021 and returned in December 2023. He has a strong Championship record with 74 wins from 138 games and a 45.9% win rate across 305 matches.
