'Survivor 48' star Eva Erickson responds to 'horrible' online comments about her autism
Briefly

Eva Erickson clarified misconceptions surrounding her journey on Survivor, emphasizing that her success resulted from her skills and social relationships, not her autism. In her statements, she expressed disappointment over claims that other competitors kept her in the game due to fears about backlash for voting her out. Erickson reinforced her respect for her fellow players and highlighted her strategic gameplay, noting that many sought to eliminate her and her strong ally. She also acknowledged the supportive reaction from fans regarding her openness about her autism, which she found encouraging.
These people respected me as a competitor, and anyone who was saying that they were keeping me in the game because I had autism and they were worried about the backlash, they do not understand who I am and who these people are.
You can see time and time again that people wanted to get me and Joe out of the game. They were coming for us because we were the strong duo and they couldn't do it.
So no, I was not being treated differently because I had autism. I was being treated how I am because of the person that I am and what I built in this game.
On the flip side, Erickson said that the positive fan response to her openness about her autism has been 'amazing.'
