Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is set to write and direct a follow-up to David Fincher's The Social Network, which is subtitled 'Part Two,' though not a traditional sequel. The new film will explore revelations from The Wall Street Journal's 'Facebook Files' investigation into Facebook's detrimental effects on minors and its role in spreading misinformation. Despite the significant changes in Zuckerberg's life since the original film, including his physical transformation, fans speculate about the returns of the original cast, sparking excitement about the potential of revisiting these characters in a contemporary setting.
David Fincher's 2010 film The Social Network ends with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg refreshing the friend request of an ex-girlfriend, a pathetic and modern attempt at a peace offering.
On June 25, Deadline reported that Sorkin will officially write and direct a 'follow-up' to the original film and that it's subtitled 'Part Two,' but also that it's 'not a sequel.'
Sorkin's not-sequel will focus on The Wall Street Journal's 'Facebook Files,' which exposed how the social-media platform has done irreparable damage to minors and spread misinformation worldwide.
It would be fun if he managed to wrangle the film's original stars back.
