What a Mess
Briefly

The shift in social media dynamics has led to decreased confidence in link sharing and distribution. The move by Xitter to deprecate links has complicated these efforts even further. Users are experiencing challenges in navigating various platforms while trying to maintain an audience. While some attempts have been made by platforms like Threads and Artifact to attract users, their efficacy remains questionable. Additionally, there's a recognition of a segment of users still interested in link-based content, but uncertainty surrounds the avenues for sharing and discovering these links.
The reality is that it's not good enough. And, I suspect, nothing will be good enough. I think the social media distribution game is done - at least when it comes to links.
I believe there's still a subset of users who crave that link mineral. I just think they, like me, are not sure where to find it right now.
When launching this site last month, I tried to map out what the social media strategy would be. Ultimately, I decided I would create dedicated feeds on Xitter and Threads.
The former, mainly for legacy reasons and because that's a known behavior - some people want to follow feeds of content there - the latter as sort of a 'trying to skate to where the puck is going' situation.
