The use of Ubuntu-based distributions began over 20 years ago, following a transition from Red Hat. The first version of Ubuntu, called "Warty Warthog," sparked curiosity and led to a long-term commitment to Ubuntu. Throughout two decades, only one issue arose during updates, resulting from extensive customization. This solid track record of smooth upgrades reinforces satisfaction and loyalty to Ubuntu, making it a clear choice for users looking for stability and reliability in their operating system.
Over the two decades I've been using Ubuntu-based distributions, I believe I've only experienced one issue where an update wasn't successful, and the only reason that happened was because the OS I was updating had been dramatically customized to the point it was almost unrecognizable.
Every upgrade I've executed on an Ubuntu-based distribution went off without a hitch. With Ubuntu, I never hesitate to run upgrades (minor or major) because I know they'll work.
