Global Microsoft outage hits Heathrow, Minecraft and Xbox
"On its X account, Microsoft Azure, the technology giant's cloud platform, said it was investigating an issue affecting some of its services. Microsoft said users may not be able to access its admin centre and might see delays when using other 365 services. Because so many sites and services use Microsoft's cloud service, an outage like this one can have widespread impact."
"In a statement at 6.11pm, the firm said: We've halted the rollout of the impacting configuration change. We're continuing our efforts to route service traffic away from the affected infrastructure, where the change was already applied, to recover service availability as quickly as possible. In parallel, we're working to revert the impacted infrastructure to a previous healthy state. Mobile phone operator O2 also faced issues while in the US people complained about problems accessing the website of coffee chain Starbucks and retailer Kroger,"
A Microsoft-related outage affected multiple services and sites while Heathrow flights were not delayed or cancelled. Voting at the Scottish Parliament was suspended during a marathon session to consider nearly 400 Land Reform Bill amendments. Downdetector recorded spikes in reports for Xbox, Microsoft Outlook, Royal Bank of Scotland, BT and Asda, with more than 2,000 reports for Xbox and at least 500 for Outlook by 6pm. Microsoft investigated Azure issues, warned of admin centre access problems and 365 delays, halted an impacting configuration rollout, and worked to route traffic away and revert infrastructure. O2, Starbucks and Kroger also experienced issues.
