Jon Stewart to Continue Hosting The Daily Show Through 2026
"Whatever 2026 may hold for America, we can take comfort in knowing that Jon Stewart will be on TV to yell about it. Comedy Central has announced that the longtime host of The Daily Show will continue behind the desk through December 2026. Recently, Stewart had indicated he wanted to continue in the role: During an October appearance at the New Yorker Festival, he told New Yorker editor David Remnick that he was working to sign a new contract."
"Stewart will continue to anchor Monday nights, with Tuesday through Thursday nights being hosted by a revolving panel of hosts from The Daily Show's News Team, including Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Troy Iwata, and Grace Kuhlenschmidt. In recent weeks, he has used his position to mock the Trump adminstration's attempts to censor late-night and criticize the cancellation of Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
Jon Stewart will continue as host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central through December 2026. Stewart signaled his intent to stay during an October appearance at the New Yorker Festival and returned to the show in 2024 on a once-a-week basis after retiring in 2015. Comedy Central credited Stewart with elevating the genre and praised his incisive comedy and sharp commentary. Paramount's recent cancellation of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert sparked rumors about late-night changes, but Stewart will anchor Mondays while a rotating panel of news-team hosts covers other weeknights. New episodes air at 11:00 PM ET/PT and stream next day on Paramount+.
