"I got an RSI. I got back to the U.K., and my right elbow - there was something weird about it. I went to the physiotherapist, and they were like, 'What is it?' And I was like, 'I don't know.' And then I figured out it might have just been from flailing my arm around for three months."
"Based on Peter Shaffer's 1979 play (which later inspired the Oscar-winning 1984 film of the same name that starred Sharpe's The White Lotus Season 2 costar F. Murray Abraham), Amadeus takes the feud between the composers to all-consuming proportions. Salieri is slowly destroyed by his obsession with Mozart's musical prowess, oscillating between considering it a gift to the world and a personal punishment from God."
Will Sharpe stars as Mozart in Amadeus, a five-part STARZ limited series based on Peter Shaffer's 1979 play. During filming in Budapest, Sharpe developed a repetitive strain injury in his right elbow from extensive conducting movements required for the role. The series explores the destructive rivalry between Mozart and Salieri, his mentor-friend consumed by jealousy over Mozart's musical genius. Salieri oscillates between viewing Mozart's talent as a gift to the world and as divine punishment, while Mozart remains oblivious to the poisonous envy surrounding him. The production is based on the same play that inspired the 1984 Oscar-winning film.
