YouTube discontinued its Trending tab, a feature in place since 2015, due to a consistent decline in traffic and the evolving nature of viewing trends. The platform aims to adapt to user behavior by introducing category-specific Charts that include Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcast Shows, and Trending Movie Trailers. The change is intended to reflect the diverse micro-trends and communities that now dominate the platform, allowing users to discover content more in line with their interests rather than a singular trending list.
Back when we first launched the Trending page in 2015, the answer to 'what's trending?' was a lot simpler. Today, trends consist of many videos created by many fandoms.
Instead of a single catch-all list, YouTube is shifting toward category-specific Charts. Users can now find popular content through pages like Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcast Shows, and Trending Movie Trailers.
