According to "From the very start, our mission at LaGuardia Airport was to transform what was once the worst airport in the nation into an airport that would rival the best in the world that is also capable of handling the passenger volumes of the coming decades," said Port Authority executive director Rick Cotton, as reported in a Forbes Travel Guide."
LaGuardia underwent an $8 billion redevelopment from 2016 to 2022 that rebuilt terminals, gate areas, and passenger facilities. The renovation delivered spacious gate areas, state-of-the-art architecture, and New York culinary options such as H&H Bagels and Junior's. LaGuardia earned consecutive top U.S. honors from Forbes Travel Guide and won international recognition including the Prix Versailles for best new airport and Skytrax's Terminal B award. Forbes Travel Guide's Verified Air Travel Awards are judged by an invitation-only panel of 9,000 luxury travel advisors and hospitality experts. The airport now ranks among the country's best and in North America for its passenger category.
