AAA projects that 45.1 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home this Memorial Day weekend, marking a new record. The increase of 1.4 million travelers compared to last year indicates robust travel trends despite rising costs. Road trips are particularly popular, with about 39.4 million travelers opting to drive. Stacey Barber of AAA Travel emphasizes that vacations need not be costly, advocating for simple getaways to enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Early morning is the best time to travel by car during the busy weekend.
Though many Americans have concerns over rising costs, they're still making the most of the long weekend to travel and spend time with friends and families.
Memorial Day weekend getaways don't have to be extravagant and costly," Stacey Barber, Vice President of AAA Travel, said in a statement.
A majority of vacationers - a projected 39.4 million - will be traveling via car during Memorial Day weekend, taking a road trip to reach their final destination.
