Air travel costs are rising, particularly baggage fees, as airlines respond to increased fuel prices. Delta Air Lines announced a $10 increase for checked bags, effective April 8, 2026, raising fees to $45 for the first bag and $55 for the second. United and JetBlue have also raised their baggage fees. United's increase mirrors Delta's, while JetBlue's fees vary by season, charging $39 during off-peak and $49 during peak times. Long-haul flights still allow one free checked bag.
