Asylum seekers residing in an Essex hotel face life-threatening situations amid protests by far-right activists. Reports indicate assaults on individuals outside the hotel, with some seeking medical treatment for injuries. A Yemeni asylum seeker stated he was attacked by six men while walking, while another asylum seeker from Kuwait emphasized their confinement during ongoing protests. These asylum seekers, who fled persecution, express a desire for safety and a chance to live and study in the UK. Police have made several arrests in connection with the demonstrations and the tension surrounding the hotel continues to escalate.
Nabil, an asylum seeker from Yemen, described feeling targeted, stating, 'They were in two cars and they were ready. They were waiting for us.' His face injuries stemmed from an attack by six men.
Jibreel, another asylum seeker, conveyed, 'It's not safe for us here and we know this. We're here in the UK for different reasons...but we just want to be able to live, to study and do something here.'
After protests intensified against the hotel housing asylum seekers, local police reported 18 arrests and charged seven individuals linked to the demonstrations.
