Train punctuality in Q1 2025 was 68.1%. Between 1 January and 31 March 2025, 1.9 million services were planned, with 44,100 fully cancelled and 39,200 partially cancelled. During that period 14.1% of services ran 3–15 minutes late and 1.5% were delayed by more than 15 minutes. Extrapolated across a year this equates to about 176,400 full cancellations, 156,800 part cancellations, 1.07 million services 3–15 minutes late and 114,000 services delayed over 15 minutes. Approximately 42.7% of journeys are for commuting or business, equating to roughly 739 million business trips last year. With an estimated 60 business travellers per service and a median hourly pay of £18.64, lost productivity totals about £820 million annually.
