Fine Gael councillor, Baby Pereppadan for Tallaght South, met with the man on Monday and said he is in "shock." He told the Irish Independent: "He couldn't speak much because of the shock he was in, he only arrived in Ireland three weeks ago."
Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South-West, Seán Crowe, condemned the violent and racist attack saying it was "vile and utterly unacceptable on so many levels." He called for anyone with information about the incident to reach out to authorities.
Crowe expressed that residents are increasingly nervous to leave their homes because of such behavior, regardless of their background, and insisted, "this has to be the last" such attack.
