The BBC announced that its Sounds app will be exclusively available to UK residents, affecting BBC radio programmes and podcasts for those living outside the UK, including in Germany. BBC TV content will still require a satellite subscription for access outside the UK. From July 21st, listeners outside the UK must register for the new BBC app or use BBC.com without access to previously saved subscriptions or bookmarks. Some BBC content will not be available due to rights issues, although BBC Radio 4 and the World Service can be streamed.
The BBC Sounds app will become a UK-only service, unavailable to those in other countries, requiring listeners outside the UK to use the new BBC app or BBC.com.
Listeners outside the UK must register for the new BBC app or BBC.com to access some audio content, without the ability to save previous subscriptions or bookmarks.
