Your guide to London's 2025 Christmas lights switch on events
"It's close to Christmas lights season again, and a lot of councils and local organisations will be holding formal lighting ceremonies. Below is a list of the ones I have found around London. Many more areas have lights, but don't seem to have formal lights-on events. It's also been a bit of an issue that so many organisers haven't included what time the lights switch-on event is taking place, so you may need to check the local press or turn up and hope."
"Regent Street and St James The two neighbouring areas will switch on at the same time - but they haven't confirmed the time yet. Wednesday 12th November Covent Garden The famous market's bells and lights will be switched on at a time to be confirmed. Marylebone Events run from 3pm to 8pm, with the lights switched on by Jo Good at 6pm. Spitalfields The old market will have events from 3pm and the main lights switch on at 6pm."
Formal Christmas lights switch-on events are scheduled across London throughout November, with many dates but often missing start times. Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Regent Street and St James, and Covent Garden have set dates early in November but lack confirmed switch-on times. Marylebone and Spitalfields have events from 3pm with lights at 6pm. Leadenhall Market's lights will be switched on by the Lady Mayor at 6pm. Other local centres such as St Katherine Docks, Bexleyheath, Angel/Islington/Camden locations, and Elizabeth Street have events with varied timings and community activities.
