Green and Independent Socialist councillors form new alliance on Haringey Council
Briefly

The Green Socialist Alliance combines Independent Socialist councillors and Green Party councillors to focus on climate issues and social justice. Leaders Mary Mason, Lotte Collett, Mark Blake, and Ruairidh Paton form the alliance, aiming to address the challenges facing working-class people. Lotte Collett emphasized the necessity of collaboration for effective problem-solving regarding climate change, the cost of living, and housing crises. The alliance will alter the dynamics of Haringey Council's left bloc as they work together toward shared goals and expertise.
Cllr Lotte Collett stated, 'Climate issues need to be front and centre of everything that we do, it's massively important because the people that are the most affected by these issues are the working classes.'
Cllr Collett explained, 'Joining together is entirely rational to get that expertise from Ruairidh,' emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the four councillors.
Cllr Collett noted, 'Being a group of four helped to share the load,' highlighting the efficiency of their alliance in addressing key issues.
A spokesperson for the alliance mentioned, 'At future meetings of Haringey Council there will be a change in the left bloc of councillors with the launch of the Green Socialist Alliance.'
