Brothers of Renee Good call for action in Congress
""The completely surreal scenes taking place on the streets of Minneapolis are beyond explanation. This is not just a bad day, or a rough week, or isolated incidents,""
""These encounters with federal agents are changing the community and changing many lives, including ours, forever.""
""deep distress""
Brothers Luke and Brett Ganger spoke at a congressional hearing after their sister, 37-year-old mother of three Renee Good, was shot and killed Jan. 7 during an immigration operation in Minneapolis. The hearing, organized by Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Robert Garcia, highlighted use-of-force complaints against Department of Homeland Security officers involved in arrests and deportations. The brothers described the family’s "deep distress" and said the scenes in Minneapolis are "changing many lives, including ours, forever." Another protester, Alex Pretti, died weeks later. Trump administration officials said Good tried to run over an officer; state and local officials and protesters disputed that characterization.
