Lindsey Vonn, 41, suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee after a crash during a downhill World Cup race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The crash occurred after losing control coming off a jump, sending her skidding into safety nets; she was airlifted and the race was called off amid difficult conditions that had already caused other crashes. After testing her knee, Vonn plans to participate in the Olympic downhill on Feb. 8 wearing a knee brace, though her medal chances are diminished. Vonn retired in 2019 after repeated knee injuries and underwent a partial right-knee replacement before returning.
