"On September 10, Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist from the United States was shot during an event at Utah Valley University. The alleged attacker, identified as 22-year-old Utah native Tyler R., was taken into custody on September 12. Following the incident, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a videoand several images of a "person of interest," asking the public for help in identifying the suspect. Once Tyler R. was apprehended, his mugshot was made public."

Social media flooded with photos and videos purportedly showing the suspect, but many items were misleading or false. One image circulated as a clearer photo was identified as AI-generated and fake. Visual discrepancies include differences in eye level, color, texture, an added watch, and gibberish text on a cap, indicating manipulation.
